PENTAX Security Systems Division, which is responsible for the sale of CCTV lenses, was originally founded as Cosmicar in 1951 to produce optical components. Originally, Cosmicar was a subsidiary of Asahi Optical before becoming a subsidiary of PENTAX. since then our worldwide sales of CCTV lenses have made us a market leader under the Cosmicar and later Cosmicar/Pentax brands.

In 2002 the Cosmicar name was discontinued and we focused on the recognition and strength of the PENTAX brand. Last year our name changed to PENTAX Security Systems Division in line with international branding.

At the beginning of the year, PENTAX merged with Hoya Corporation – a strong and well established Japanese company involved in similar industries which are complimentary to ours, including glass manufacturing.  Both companies have great plans for the future of PENTAX and are forming a solid base for all future business activities in the field of optics, image processing and component manufacture.
